The Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to fostering globally competitive state-owned businesses, emphasizing their role in building a self-sufficient economy.
During a working visit to HHL Insurance Brokers Limited, a state-owned insurance company, the General Manager of the Kwara State Public Procurement Agency (KWPPA), QS Raheem Abdulbaki, highlighted the agency’s dedication to promoting local content and driving economic growth across the state.
“The framework we have in place ensures that Kwarans benefit from every contract awarded in the state, leading to appreciable financial and technical returns. This, in turn, boosts internally generated revenue and enhances employment opportunities,” Abdulbaki stated.
He credited Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) for his unwavering support, which has significantly contributed to the agency’s achievements. Abdulbaki also announced a major policy shift, revealing that the ₦10 million cap on insurance bonds accessible within the state has been removed.
“His Excellency understands that for local businesses to thrive, access to funding must be free from unnecessary bottlenecks,” he added.
The Acting Managing Director of HHL Insurance Brokers Limited, Mallam Shaaba Taofeeq, welcomed the visit, describing it as timely. He reaffirmed the company’s readiness to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to achieve the government’s objectives.
Acknowledging past challenges that had hindered the company’s growth, Taofeeq appealed for KWPPA’s continued support. He assured the state government that HHL Insurance Brokers Limited has the capacity to manage all insurance obligations within Kwara State and beyond.
“This renewed drive for local content implementation will undoubtedly stimulate economic growth across the state,” he said.
The meeting, attended by top management officials from both organizations, reinforced the government’s strategic vision of empowering local businesses as a pillar of sustainable economic development.
