Top Nigerian tech entrepreneur and co-founder of Andela, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, has called on his friends and well-wishers to support the Kwara State Education Trust Fund, describing it as a model that other states in Nigeria should adopt to strengthen public education.

Aboyeji, who is also a co-founder of Flutterwave, Africa’s leading payments technology firm, and Future Africa, a platform that provides capital and mentorship for young innovators, made the appeal ahead of his 34th birthday on March 28.

“As is tradition, instead of birthday gifts this year, I’m asking friends and well-wishers to donate toward some of the initiatives of the Kwara Education Trust Fund, such as sponsoring a child’s secondary school education or renovating schools,” Aboyeji wrote on his social media handle.

He added that anyone who donates at least $1,000 to the Fund would be eligible for a private dinner with him, as part of his personal commitment to the cause.

The Kwara State Education Trust Fund is an independent body governed by reputable individuals from both the public and private sectors, with a mandate to mobilize resources for improving public education. Aboyeji, who serves as a board member of the Fund, emphasized its role in providing scholarships, bursaries, infrastructural development, and capacity-building initiatives for teachers and learners.

“This innovative approach to augmenting resources for public education allows the public—particularly Kwara indigenes at home and abroad, as well as their friends—to partner with the government in building the future of Kwara State through sustainable investments in quality education,” he noted.

He further urged Nigerians from other states to encourage their governments to establish similar initiatives to improve education across the country.

The tech expert shared the official account details for donations:
Account Name: Kwara State Education Trust Fund
Bank: Zenith Bank
Account Number: 1229315108

Through this initiative, Aboyeji hopes to inspire greater private-sector involvement in education and create lasting opportunities for young learners in Kwara State.
