Despite months of internal wrangling over the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship race in Kwara State, governorship aspirant Engr. Femi Sanni, popularly known as Araba, says the ruling party remains firmly in control and is still the team to beat ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking during a meeting with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at the Bishop’s Court of the Anglican Diocese of Kwara in Ilorin on Saturday, Araba dismissed suggestions that the party’s internal disagreements have weakened its electoral chances.

According to him, the massive crowds that turned out for separate rallies organised by different APC camps are proof of the party’s widespread popularity rather than evidence of division.

“When you add the numbers from all the rallies together, it becomes obvious that APC’s support base remains overwhelming. Once all outstanding issues are resolved, our victory will be difficult to stop,” he said.

The governorship hopeful urged fellow aspirants and party leaders to avoid actions capable of deepening divisions, insisting that he has confidence in the reconciliation efforts being led by the party’s national leadership.

“There is no reason to approach the general election as a divided family. We should remain patient with the President and the National Working Committee. That is the spirit of progressive politics,” he added.

Explaining his visit to the CAN leadership, Araba said he came to seek prayers for Kwara State, the APC and Nigeria, stressing that religious leaders have a crucial responsibility to promote peace, unity and stability.
The Kwara APC has witnessed intense political activities in recent months, with several governorship hopefuls and support groups holding consultations and rallies while the party’s reconciliation committee works to heal divisions ahead of the 2027 polls.
