Governor says landmark project will be delivered on schedule

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Wednesday inspected the ongoing Ilorin International Conference Centre (IICC), expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the project.

The conference centre is part of the administration’s efforts to strengthen the local service economy through investments in technology, innovation, conferencing and hospitality, tourism, creativity, and agribusiness.

Speaking during the inspection, the governor said he was impressed with the progress recorded so far and expressed confidence that the project would be completed later this year if work continues at the current pace.

“I’m here to inspect the project and see the progress being made, and we are happy with the development. They are scheduled to deliver on time this year,” AbdulRazaq said.

“So, the International Conference Centre is set to be delivered this year, God willing.”

The governor also commended the quality of work done so far and urged the contractors to maintain the standards while keeping to the project timeline.

“Yes, we are happy with the quality of work so far and we hope they will deliver as per specification and right on the schedule,” he added.

AbdulRazaq was accompanied on the inspection by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah. The team was conducted round the facility by the construction manager, Engr. Kola Olowookere, who briefed the governor on the progress made on the site.

The International Conference Centre is expected to serve as a major hub for conferences, exhibitions, and large gatherings in the state once completed. Officials say the facility will also support business tourism and attract national and international events to Ilorin.
